Great job experimenting with a variety of shots and subjects. You have a natural eye for portraiture, so I want to encourage you to push these images further by thinking about and conceptualizing the “characters” you are representing and what you want them to evoke (and why.) Perhaps think about what the subjects evoke in terms of race, class, gender, and other ways in which people are represented in advertising, the news, on social media, etc, and how the way you compose the image reflects a narrative about that subject.
ReplyDeleteYour images are edited very well and all have great tonal range. Some of the images, like the portraits, the image of the reflected flower, and the image of the cat, are very successful because they have strong composition and narrative qualities.The lake and the campus feel a little lacking in narrative depth because they are too familiar or too close to “campus photography”. I want to encourage you to keep up the experimentation and the portraiture. How can you utilize other parts of the image within the frame to get closer to saying what you are trying to say? Overall, great job and keep experimenting!
