Your campus photos of the squirrels work because they have a sense of playfulness, and they aren’t obviously the campus of UF, so they don’t fall into the trap of looking like “campus photography” images. You did a great job of editing your photos to have good tonal range (contrast and brightness). For the comb photo, I think the images you had from the Extract the Magic assignment in which you made the comb look nothing like a comb at all were much more interesting than this image. Try to push yourself further to make images that don’t just represent the subject as it is, but that add a narrative element that defamiliarizes the subject in a way the viewer might not expect. Some of the other images that are on UF campus remind me of “campus photos” and aren’t super compelling. Try to avoid falling into “conventional” genres of photography and keep experimenting with your subject matter and ways of composing the images. Your panning shots are nice, and the last image has awesome tonal range and very interesting light, but could use a little bit of tweaking in photoshop (and I’ll show you how). Overall, good job and keep up the experimentation!
