Nuts and Bolts- Nathalie Rivera

For this project I chose to document want my boyfriend did during the course of a day. Some images represent what he did or show where he went.

Morning/Evening/Night (Outdoors)

  1. Most of your images are way too dark (they will print even darker), and not very interesting compositionally or content-wise. The most successful image to me is the one of the man in the car with smoke. It has the strongest narrative quality, and I looked the longest at it because it is the most dynamic and has the most tonal range, and it has the best composition of all of the images. Try thinking of ways you can utilize all of the space within the frame, and how you can say something more by adding elements to the composition. When you are editing on your computer, make sure the screen is at 60% brightness instead of 100%, so that your images don’t end up being too dark when we begin printing. Also start thinking of how you can push your images to not fall into the “conventional” genres of photography. Overall, good job and keep up the experimenting!
